John M. Kennedy, CFA

Chairman of the Board

John graduated from Purdue University in 1980 and served the next four years as a Naval Officer.  After his service he attended and graduated from Rutgers University with an MBA in 1986.  He returned to Indianapolis where he joined the Federal Home Loan Bank as a Senior Financial Analyst with a specialty in financial futures and options. 

John was awarded the professional designation of CFA, Chartered Financial Analyst, in 1993. He joined NBD Trust and Investments in 1993 as a Portfolio Manager and Administrator.  Most recently he was a Senior Trust Officer with J.P. Morgan, formerly Bank One. 

John began his GBC career in September 2005 as Vice President and Trust Officer. He became the Controller, Bank Secrecy Act Officer and Vice President/Treasurer for Greenfield Bancshares in 2008.  In 2009, John was named Executive Vice President and in June 2012, he became the President and CEO of Greenfield Banking Company and Greenfield Bancshares Inc. In April 2023, John retired from Greenfield Banking Company as President and CEO. John continues to serve as Chairman of the Board.

John continues to serve as a Captain in the US Navy Reserve and on the Board of Directors of Scecina Memorial High School.  John, his wife, Cris, and three children have lived in Irvington on the east side of Indianapolis since 1988.
